Troy Aikman claims Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift "might actually be engaged" after viral 'Mrs' comment
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been among the most popular celebrity couples for the past year. Fans are eager to tune in to their personal lives, sometimes even speculating about marriage and an engagement.
Swift and Kelce, of course, are yet to address any rumors themselves.
However, in an appearance on 'Pardon My Take' on Wednesday, ESPN NFL commentator Troy Aikman spoke about the celebrity couple. Aikman was in trouble with fans on Monday after he referred to Swift as 'Mrs.' [Start at 1:36:03 mark].
"Was that a big deal? I mean, was that...was I on a tight rope right there? This morning I woke up and saw a headline. Like...Aikman knew he was in trouble or something. And I'm thinking, 'Gosh, if this is newsworthy...I mean...really?'" Aikman said.
However, he added that a source had told him that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce could be engaged already.
"Someone actually reached out to me today and said that they might actually be engaged. So I might have broke the story."
During the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints, Aikman referred to Swift as 'Mrs'. Many fans were unhappy with the ESPN commentator's words; some even referred to it as 'disgusting'.
"The Mrs likes it," Aikman said on the broadcast.
That being said, Kelce's mother Donna has also responded to engagement rumors before. Speaking to Page Six, Donna spoke about Kelce's personal life, confident that her children can make their own decisions.
"Nobody knows that. We will see what happens. You never know."
Taylor Swift attended a Chiefs game for Travis Kelce after missing two straight games
After attending multiple Kansas City Chiefs games in 2023 and two straight games in 2024, Swift was absent for the Chiefs' Week 3 and Week 4 games. While a few fans were curious about her absence, some were sure she'd show up in a week or two.
Swift, as mentioned, made her appearance during the team's Week 5 MNF game.
Brittany Mahomes, who was also at the game, even recreated an iconic photo with Swift:
"Same girls, new bumpš„¹," Brittany wrote in her caption.
With the 2024 NFL season underway, one can expect more in-game moments from Swift.
