Troy Aikman's comments on Tom Brady set stage for MNF showdown

In previous years, Wild Card weekend would have already wrapped up by this time. Tom Brady and Dak Prescott would have already played and fans would know who to roast.

However, with the playoff game being played on a weekday, drama is unfolding to kick off the work week.

While speaking on the Sports Illustrated media podcast, ESPN color commentator Troy Aikman gave the quarterback some bulletin board material, according to Daily Mail. Here's how he put it:

"I kid him about it — he's the most unathletic quarterback in the game. I'm 56 years old, and I'm pretty confident I can outrun him in the 40-yard dash."

While fans would love to see the proposed competition, No. 12 is hoping to first outshine quarterback Dak Prescott and repeat what he was able to do in Week 1.

The Dallas Cowboys will play a playoff game against Tom Brady today.

How did Buccaneers QB Tom Brady play against Cowboys QB Dak Prescott in Week 1?

Before the leaves started to lose color, Tampa Bay's No. 12 took on Dallas' No. 4 in their first showdown of the season.

It was the stuff of nightmares for Cowboys fans but just another day at the office for Buccaneers fans. Dak Prescott injured his thumb and was forced to leave the game. Backup Cooper Rush failed to save the day in his place.

We're really gonna have to do the Tom Brady thing today, aren't we?

In the game, Brady completed 18 of 27 throws for 212 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Prescott completed 14 of 29 throws for 134 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. In his place, Cooper Rush threw for 64 yards, completing seven of 13 throws for zero touchdowns and interceptions.

The winner of the game will extend their season by one week while the other will be forced to contemplate what went wrong for at least the next six months. Will Tom Brady hold off the potential end of his career or will Prescott get himself within one game of stringing together playoff wins for the first time since 1990s?
