"It's not as easy as it looked like": Tua Tagovailoa hits back at critics of his botched snap during one-point loss vs Cardinals
Tua Tagovailoa likely knows the dangers of calling out critics, as it often leads to worse criticism. Despite this, Tagovailoa shared his thoughts on the reactions from fans and critics who called him out for a botched snap in the Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
In a clip posted on Twitter/X by Sun Sentinel reporter David Furones, the quarterback responded to his critics:
"I'd like to see a lot of other people go back there and try to catch that ball too... It's not as easy as what it looked like. Sitting down on your couch eating chips," he said.
Aside from the snap in question, the quarterback performed at a quality level arguably not yet seen this season. Tagovailoa completed 73.7% of his passes for 234 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. One could argue that the Dolphins quarterback is still working himself into mid-season form after completing just his third appearance in the league this season.
Tua Tagovailoa's 2024 season will be defined by ability to clean up Miami Dolphins' slide
At 2-5, the Miami Dolphins handed Tua Tagovailoa a difficult situation after the quarterback went down with a concussion early this season. Tagovailoa left the Dolphins with a 1-1 record in the thick of the AFC East race.
Upon his return, Tagovailoa was tasked with reviving a 2-4 team chasing a Buffalo Bills head and shoulders above the rest of the AFC East. If he fails in the task, the odds are high that he will shoulder a lot of the blame, albeit somewhat unfairly.
The Dolphins take on the Bills on Sunday in a huge AFC East rivalry. Not only will this game largely dictate the course of the division, but it could potentially have ramifications in the trade market.
If Miami does go 2-6, they might look to the trade deadline to give themselves a better shot for next year and beyond. The deadline is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and there will likely be a lot of movement after Sunday's slot of games.
Will Tua Tagovailoa pull the Dolphins back from the brink or is the situation a lost cause for 2024?
