Tua Tagovailoa stunned by Tyreek Hill’s detainment as dashcam footage of altercation with South Florida Police goes viral
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has described teammate Tyreek Hill's altercation with law enforcement as "one of the craziest things" he's ever seen.
Hours before the Miami Dolphins' clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium, Hill was detained by the Miami Police. Dashcam footage of the incident has since been released and gone viral.
The adversity did not hamper 'Cheetah’s' performance, though, and his QB was all the more impressed. Tua Tagovailoa discussed the Dolphins' season opener and Hill's incident in an interview with ‘G.O.A.T Farm Sports’.
“Unbelievable. That’s crazy. Dude was speeding all day today," said Tagovailoa. “Speeding before the game, speeding during the game. I hope he wasn’t speeding after the game. I think that was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen, especially that dude in Miami. You know who that is.
“The mindset that he had, the adversity that he dealt with early on before the game. Him just coming through for the team on that 80-yard TD run and that celly that he had, I thought that was super, super dope.”
Tagovailoa also highlighted Hill’s celebration after scoring, in which the WR pretended to be handcuffed behind his back. The speedster has appealed to the entire NFL fraternity for his cause.
Why was Tyreek Hill detained by the police?
As per the bodycam footage released by the Miami Police Department, the police stopped Tyreek Hill for not wearing his seatbelt. The initial interaction was cordial as Hill handed his license and registration to the cops. Things started heating up as Hill seemingly didn't like the officer knocking on his window.
The player rolled his window back up before the officer was done talking, and was asked to lower it again, but Hill complied only partially. This led to a physical altercation as the officers forcefully opened the car door, pulled Hill out, and detained him on the sidewalk. As per the police, Hill was detained for careless driving and a seatbelt violation.
