Tua Tagovailoa has a unique way to ensure he doesn't get any more concussions

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a rough 2022-23 season as he suffered two, possibly three, concussions last season.

In Week 3, it looked as if Tua suffered a concussion vs. the Buffalo Bills, but the Dolphins labeled it a back injury.

The doctors cleared him, however, and he played the very next week vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game, he suffered a brutal concussion that knocked him out, forcing him to miss a few games. He suffered another concussion during the team's Christmas Day loss to the Green Bay Packers.

He spoke with Yahoo Sports during Super Bowl week and explained an interesting way he will try to avoid getting more concussions in the future.

“We’ve got a plan set up,” Tua said. “I’ll be doing Judo on Fridays just so that I can kind of figure out understanding my body and how to fall. ... Just trying to help myself.”

Tua added:

“I’ve had all the information that I need to move forward with the decision that I made with me and my wife and my family. You’re playing this sport understanding and knowing the precautions. These things can happen. It’s football. It’s a physical sport.”

The Miami Dolphins finished last seson 9-8 which was good enough for a playoff berth.

He finished the regular season 8-5 as the starting quarterback as he missed four games due to injuries.

Tua Tagovailoa will likely get the fifth-year option picked up for next season

Tua Tagovailoa is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the upcoming season.

The Dolphins can change that by picking up the fifth-year option before the May 1 deadline.

Tagovailoa has improved in each of the three years he's been in the NFL. He led the league in passer rating last season with a 105.5 rating.

Last season, the New York Giants elected not to pick up the fifth-year option for Daniel Jones and may now be forced to franchise tag him, which will cost more toward the cap.
