Tyreek Hill clowns ex-Ravens QB's 5v5 flag football team
Tyreek Hill was in the mood for some self-deprecation as he made fun of Robert Griffin III's flag football team. With the 2024 Olympics coming up in a few days, Americans cannot stop wondering about the 2028 Olympics that will take place in Los Angeles. And it will include flag football as a sport, bringing American Football to a worldwide audience.
Perhaps with that in mind, the former Washington quarterback made a dream team that he thought could be hard to beat. RGIII included himself as the quarterback and chose Tyreek Hill, Calvin Johnson and Justin Jefferson as his weapons. For the running part of the game, he went with Usain Bolt, the fastest athlete in history so far.
The Dolphins receiver replied to it saying that everyone on that side would be too old in four years' time to compete at the level required for the Olympics, except for Justin Jefferson. He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter,
"Father Time we all washed except for JJettas"
If not Tyreek Hill, who could play flag football at 2028 Olympics?
If the NFL grants release to players to represent the USA on the flag football team during the 2028 Olympics, some of the best footballers at the time might choose to represent the country for the sheer honor of it. And while Tyreek Hill is right in saying he probably would not be a top player at that time, here are some who could very well make America proud.
Since RGIII, and earlier Cam Newton, have taken a stab at building a team, we thought we would do so too. At quarterback, probably a dual-threat quarterback in his prime would be a good choice. Josh Allen could fulfill that role. For the receivers, one could go with Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, and CeeDee Lamb. All of them are in their prime and would be deadly in an open field.
For running threat, one expects Christian McCaffrey might have slowed down a bit until then, but he might still have enough to pull on the shirt. If not, a left-field option could be someone like Chiefs' rookie Louis Rees-Zammit, unless he wants to represent Great Britain if they are participating. The former Welsh rugby player has experience playing in international tournaments and is a fast runner.
Whatever happens, the fact that players like Tyreek Hill are talking seriously about flag football shows the impact the 2028 Olympics can have on the sport.
