"Tyreek Hill is just chasing clout" - Noah Lyles claps back after Dolphins WR's challenge to take down sprinter

Despite the Paris Olympics being over, Noah Lyles remains in the news. The American Olympic sprinter has become a hot topic within the NFL world due to his simmering beef with Tyreek Hill.

Back at last year's World Athletics Championships, Lyles called NBA players something to the tune of "not world champions," arguing that they represented only the best in the United States.

That irritated the Miami Dolphins wide receiver, who eventually pivoted towards challenging him to a track race online.

Lyles, however, seems uninterested in responding, instead wanting Hill to come at him man-to-man. Speaking to Shannon Sharpe and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson on Nightcap, he explained:

"Tyreek is just chasing clout. The man, anytime somebody fast comes up, he says he wants to race them. If he really wanted to race people, he would have showed up like (the Seattle Seahawks') DK Metcalf. And the man raced in the 60 meters this year, in the master's division. The man dodging smoke. I don't got time for that."

However, Lyles says he is more than ready to take Hill on in a race if he wants.

"We can race if he's serious about it. If he's truly serious about it. I'm not talking about you just talking on the internet. And you ain't actually coming to me and talking to my agent and saying, let's set something up. You are seriously about it. You'll see me on the track."

Noah Lyles also gets called out by Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert

But as it turns out, there is a new Dolphin who wants to race Noah Lyles on the track: running back Raheem Mostert. Speaking on NFL Network’s The Insiders on Friday during their 13-6 win against the Washington Commanders, the one-time Pro Bowler said:

“I mean, obviously, it takes training, right? We’d definitely have to get the training in but honestly, I think we’ll square off pretty good [with Lyles]. I like our chances, I like our odds. We can definitely make some noise in that regard… I might join [Hill], honestly, in that race [against Lyles] and see where it leads us.”

If suspension of disbelief holds, Mostert does have the credentials to be at least competitive in such a race with Noah Lyles. During the 2015 Combine, he did a 4.34 40-yard dash.

In week 2 of the 2020 season against the New York Jets, Mostert reached 23.09 miles per hour during a carry - the fastest speed clocked in the NFL since 2018, per the NFL's NextGen Stats.
