Tyreek Hill reveals fatherhood lessons learnt from Deion Sanders after once accused of child abuse
Tyreek Hill has revealed that he looks up to Deion Sanders in the way he manages his relationship with his children.
Drawing inspiration from the Hall-of-Fame football player, the Miami Dolphins star said that he has been inspired by how he coaches, what he says, and how he handles fatherhood.
Tyreek Hill said:
"I follow Deion Sanders a lot, bro. Not only he's a Hall of Fame football player, but the way he is with his kids, you know, the way he is with his two sons (because I got two sons too), who's really good at football, and I want to be a coach, and I watched everything that Deion does.
"So I was watching him talk to his coaches. And he said the same thing. He was like, 'wherever your feet are, that's where your head is'. I don't want you to take your football problems home to your wife."
Tyreek Hill confirmed that there was a time when he did not know how to balance that. He now says that he helps his son out with homework and football drills and that he's now able to juggle his work with his children.
"I didn't know how to balance that. Once I began to get older in my career and with the Dolphins, I'm doing it a whole lot better. .... when I get home with my kids, I'm able to balance a whole lot better with my kids.
"And I get home I play with them. I go over homework with my son, help him out in the yard with football drills and stuff like that, and I'm able to balance it."
The Miami Dolphins star also said that when he comes home to his kids, he's their father. All they want is his paternal love and they could not care less about his achievements on the field. He continued:
"The bigger picture is when I come home, my kids don't care about Pro Bowl. My kids don't care about Super Bowl. My kids don't care about none of that. All they want is their father."
Deion Sanders seems to have helped Tyreek Hill overcome previous child abuse issues
Thanks to Deion Sanders, it seems Tyreek Hill can now leave his problems in the past. He was investigated for child abuse in 2019, where his son broke his arm, but no charges were filed, and he was not suspended.
In 2015, he pled guilty to domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend Crystal Espinal. If he's indeed a changed man now, Deion Sanders might deserve a thank you card from his family.
