Tyreek Hill throws down $100,000 challenge to IShowSpeed reigniting debate
Tyreek Hill is often considered the fastest man in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver is one of the best players in the league, and his speed is unmatchable for cornerbacks. Covering him is a nightmare.
Prior to the start of the season, a dispute arised between who was the fastest man. On one side there was Hill, the Dolphins wide receiver; on the other, it was Noah Lyles, the sprinter who won the gold medal during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although the pair did not run against each other, the debate grew large.
Lyles, however, did accept a running challenge against famous YouTuber "IShowSpeed", which he barely won. Now, Hill is asking for the same race and the same price, with the money going to charity.
After Lyles defeated IShowSpeed, the wide receiver took to Twitter to express his reaction at their 50m race. Since the athlete won by a small margin, the receiver said "And track athletes think he gone beat me" followed by laughing emojis.
How is Tyreek Hill playing in the 2024 season?
Not even close to the previous season, where he was looking to break the single-season receiving yards record of 1,964 from Calvin Johnson in 2012.
The biggest reason for his slow performance is not personal. The Dolphins lost quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during Week 2 of the season, and as a result, their entire passing offense suffered. As soon as Tagovailoa returned, Hill again started to play at a high level.
In 2024, after 12 games, he has 55 catches, 654 receiving yards and four touchdowns, averaging 54.5 receiving yards per game. As a comparison, he had more than double this number in 2023, with 112.4 receiving yards per game and 1,799 total.
His streak without a 100-yard game continues. There have now been 11 games without three digits, as the only time he reached this mark in the 2024 season was back in Week 1. The 83 yards he had against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 were the second-best performance he had this season, not even close to his dominant 2023.
