Tyreek Hill unknowingly starts Travis Kelce vs Rob Gronkowski debate after Chiefs TE’s triple TD haul vs Chargers

Last night against the Los Angeles Chargers, tight end Travis Kelce scored three touchdowns. It was the second such game of his illustrious career, both of which have occurred this season. He scored four touchdowns against Las Vegas earlier in the year.

It has further cemented his status as an all-time great in the tight end position and his dominance last night may have reopened the question of which tight end is the greatest of all time.

There are two popular answers: Kelce and former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski. In showing support for his former teammate, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who is having a fantastic year in his own right, inadvertently reopened the debate.

Name a better TE I’ll wait 😌
@cheetah Robert Gronkowski. When’s the last time Kelce blocked?
@cheetah Right now? Kelce and it's not close. He's top 3 all time IMO. But he isn't better than prime Gronk. Nobody is even close to that dominance.
@cheetah In the game now as a catching TE nobody. But if you cant blocking too. Dallas Goedart is the whole thing. Way above avg blocker and can catch and run

@cheetah If gronk just tweeted about playing again he’s instantly better 😂🤷🏾‍♂️

There are a lot of great tight ends in NFL history, like Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, George Kittle, Mike Ditka, Greg Olsen, Shannon Sharpe and many others. However, no two names come up more often in that debate than the Chiefs tight end and Gronkowski.

Gronkowski has retired, which could give the Kansas City Chiefs star a chance to catch up on career statistics. However, there have been rumblings that he might return to football, which would give him a chance to further prove his dominance at the position.

Who has better career stats, Rob Gronkowski or Travis Kelce?

Gronkowski played for a total of 11 seasons, while his Chiefs counterpart has been in the league for 10, with only one game played in his rookie year. That makes the fact that Kelce leads in total yardage (9,861 yards to 9,286 yards) even more impressive.

However, Gronkowski's touchdown total is unrivaled. He scored 92 times over the course of his career and the Chiefs star has scored 68, with 11 of those coming already this season.

The Chiefs pass catcher is 33, so even if he plays five more seasons, he'd have to score six touchdowns each year to catch Gronkowski.

The former Patriot's career may not have been as long as others, but it's impossible to deny the sheer dominance he had. Kelce seems to be dominating defenses this year, and is on pace for nearly 20 touchdowns.

That's practically what Gronkowski did to defenses year in and year out.
