Tyreek Hill unleashes on Chiefs fans over blame game in Patrick Mahomes' Top 100 snub
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes are two of the best players in the NFL. In this year's NFL top 100 list, voted on by the players, Hill came out on top as the No. 1 player, while Mahomes came in at number four, which surprised many.
Hill being named No. 1 is the first time in history that a wide receiver has been recognized as the best player in the NFL by his peers. This comes after he led the league in receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13), along with 119 receptions.
Hill made an appearance on the "Up & Adams Show," hosted by Kay Adams, and was asked if he had reached out to Mahomes after surpassing his former teammate as the top player in the NFL this year. Hill said he didn't, taking a jab at Chiefs' fans.
"I ain't want to rain on his (Patrick Mahomes) parade, because I already know what's going on. Chiefs fans already hate me or whatever, because I won number one... So y'all can go cry and rain on somebody else parade because I'mma be Cheetah, and I'm number one in the NFL, and there's nothing you can do about it," Hill said:
"I didn't vote it. Your players on your team voted it because they know what's up. And I'm talking my trash this year man, because you know why, can't nobody guard me."
Mahomes might not have had the best statistical season last year (4,183 passing yards, 27 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions), but this was due to the lack of talent the Chiefs had at the wide receiver position. Still, he led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl and won back-to-back championships.
Is Tyreek Hill still chasing 2,000 receiving yards in 2024?
Last season, Tyreek Hill set the goal of becoming the first wide receiver in NFL history to record at least 2,000 receiving yards. However, fell just 201 yards shy of the milestone.
While he set this lofty but realistic goal last season, he said it is no longer on his mind or a goal for the 2024 season.
"That’d be great, but I feel like at the same time I have to understand that there was the position that I’m in ... I had time to go look at, talk about it with my family, like, that’s very selfish of me,” Hill said via the Palm Beach Post earlier this summer.
Hill has more team-orientated goals on his mind in 2024. He said that his first goal is for the team to win a playoff game and then to build on that by getting to the Super Bowl.
Tyreek Hill still could realistically surpass 2,000 receiving yards, as he's recorded over 1,700 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons.
