"Unacceptable!" - Christian McCaffrey's father Ed makes feelings crystal clear on NFL refs' Commanders-Saints controversy

Ed McCaffrey, the father of San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey and Washington Commanders receiver Luke McCaffrey, took aim at the NFL following a controversial moment in the Commanders' 20-19 win over the Saints on Sunday.

Near the end of the game, the clock stopped for a couple of seconds, allowing the Saints to get a touchdown with just a few seconds remaining. They went for two for the win but failed.

Immediately, many fans noticed the clock stopping, giving New Orleans nearly four extra seconds.

After the game, McCaffrey took to social media to take aim at the NFL for the error which could have ruined the Commanders' playoff chances.

"Not that it matters now since @Commanders won the game but, still - Unacceptable!," McCaffrey wrote.

The Saints didn't get the two-point conversion and Washington held onto the win. Had New Orleans pulled off the upset, it would have been a very controversial win due to the clock stopping for four seconds when it shouldn't have.

Luke McCaffrey had one catch for zero yards in the Commanders' win.

Commanders coach 'taking the high road' after clock issue

Following Washington's 20-19 win over the New Orleans Saints, Commanders coach Dan Quinn says he's taking the high road and wouldn't be commentating on the malfunction.

"I am absolutely taking the high road," Quinn said, via ESPN. "Those three seconds are critical, let's just say that. We're on to [next opponent] Philadelphia. ... In the game, I was frustrated why [the clock had stopped], but in the moment, I don't get to ask and you don't get the feedback when it's that type of intensity."

Ultimately, Washington held off against the Saints to get a big win and continue its chase of the playoff.

The clock issues could have been the story of the game, but Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels said the team should have scored in the previous drive which would have made that TD meaningless.

"If we go down and score, we're not in that situation [at the end]," Daniels said.

Washington will return to the field on Sunday in a pivotal game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Commanders are 9-5 and trailing the 12-2 Eagles for the NFC East title.
