Troy Aikman delivers bad news for Aaron Rodgers and Jets after 23-20 loss against Bills on MNF

Aaron Rodgers will one day follow Troy Aikman into the Hall of Fame but if the Jets quarterback wants to get close to the Super Bowl haul of his predecessor, this season is looking unlikely. New York relieved their head coach Robert Saleh prior to this week and then took away offensive play-calling duties from coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

All of this was done with the view that it would help the Jets defeat the Bills today to join them with a 3-3 record atop the AFC East. But this loss leaves Aaron Rodgers and the Jets with a 2-4 record, who now need everything to go their way if they want to make the playoffs.

Troy Aikman said as much after the game pointing to all the mistakes the Jets made with the penalties and how they went into the red zone multiple times but failed to score a touchdown, followed by multiple missed field goal attempts. The former Cowboys great said,

"I don't know where they go from here, quite honestly, Scott, because you know, this week, with all the changes, and then you do, you have some momentum coming in... But to lose the game the way they did with the penalties and the missed field goals and not capitalizing in the red zone and all those things, I just think it's going to be really hard on them short week now."

Troy Aikman fears Aaron Rodgers and Jets might unravel after MNF loss to Bills

This loss could have a devastating effect on the Bills as per Troy Aikman. He said that, after making so many wholesale changes and the owner coming out and saying that this team is the best he has ever had, this was a damp squib for them.

"I could see this totally unraveling... because I think they put so much into this week, to winning a game and getting back on track. And the owner says this is the best team he's had in 25 years, all those things. But they didn't get it done, and so they're right back where they were, and now what's the answer for them? They don't have it."

This is now the Jets' third straight loss and the game could have been much worse had a fortuitous roughing-the-passer not been called and an Aaron Rodgers' Hail Mary had not connected. Given his playing pedigree, Troy Aikman's comments should worry the Jets supporters.
