Vikings' Justin Jefferson explains why he lives in $405,000 townhouse
Justin Jefferson is the highest-paid non-quarterback in the National Football League. The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver signed a mammoth four-year, $140 million contract in June, but still lives in a modest townhouse. Jefferson said the decision to live in a small townhouse, which was revealed to be worth $405,000 in a GQ video in 2021, was influenced by his upbringing.
The Netflix documentary "Receiver," which featured other star WRs like Deebo Samuel, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Davante Adams and George Kittle, gave the fans a closer look into Jefferson's house in Minnesota,
Jefferson spoke to reporters on Thursday during Vikings training camp. When asked why he still lives in his small townhouse, he said he did not have a big family and was happy with what he had.
"I'm a one person," Jefferson said [from 0:31]. "I ain't got no big family. I don't need a $10 million mansion. That's not something that I came from. I grew up with parents that were grateful for what they had. I was grateful for what I grew up with. I never grew up having a big, big old house. So maybe I'll move on to that. Maybe not. So I guess we'll find out sooner or later."
In 2021, Jefferson sat down for an interview with GQ Sports and discussed how he spent his first $1 million. The Vikings WR, who had signed a four-year, $13.1 rookie contract the previous year, revealed he bought the $405,000 townhouse in Minneapolis with the help of his parents, John and Elaine.
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson building great chemistry with his quarterbacks
Justin Jefferson has been the best wide receiver in the NFL since getting drafted in 2020. The three-time Pro Bowler has put up historic numbers, recording 5,899 yards and 30 touchdowns in 392 receptions, averaging 15 yards per catch.
With two new signal callers J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold, one would assume it could be a challenge for Jefferson to build chemistry. But it looks like the quarterbacks have been holding up well at the training camp.
"Oh it’s going great," Jefferson said about building chemistry with his QB. "All of the quarterbacks are doing great. JJ is coming along with him learning the playbook and with him just being comfortable out there."
"Sam [Darnold] has been throwing bombs today and he’s been looking great as well. So I’m excited to see what all of the quarterbacks have during training camp and see who we will go with during the season."
Jefferson's former quarterback Kirk Cousins has played a very important role in his development. But this offseason, he left the Minnesota Vikings and joined the Atlanta Falcons. The onus will now be on Jefferson to step up as the leader of the pack and carry the team forward.
