Vikings WR Jordan Addison arrested on alleged DUI in Los Angeles: Report
The Minnesota Vikings have an unwanted distraction prior to training camp.
Jordan Addison, the first-round wide receiver who had an excellent rookie season, was arrested on Friday with an alleged suspicion of DUI near the LAX Airport, according to a report by Daily News. Addison was caught sleeping at the wheel as his white Rolls-Royce was blocking lane number one in the freeway.
The wide receiver was arrested at 11:36 p.m. and arrested two hours later according to the report. This is not the first time that Addison has had problems with the wheel since being drafted; on July 20, 2023, he was cited for speed and reckless driving right before appearing at his first NFL training camp.
During his rookie season, Jordan Addison amassed 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning the trust of his quarterbacks as Justin Jefferson dealt with some injuries that hampered the veteran's 2023 season.
Jordan Addison didn't learn from his mistakes in 2023
He was issued a citation for speeding and reckless driving in July 2023 after driving his Lamborghini Urus at 140mph in a 55mph zone.
To see the wide receiver making the same mistake is disappointing, especially as one should remember what happened to Devon Willock right after he was living the best moment of his life.
But perhaps the biggest cautionary tale had to be the fact that Khyree Jackson, a fourth-round pick from the Minnesota Vikings, died just a week ago after a car accident as well. Addison didn't seem to learn from the situation and made the same mistake once again.
The Vikings released a statement on the matter:
"We are aware of Jordan Addison's arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident."
At this point, even if nothing bad happened, he's got to grow up and stop putting himself - and others - at risk. DUI is a serious matter that can lead to tragic situations, as we've seen with many examples in the league over the past few years.
A player with Jordan Addison's talent can't afford to waste it all due to bad decisions off the field.
