Von Miller claims Lamar Jackson is Super Bowl-caliber QB despite Falcons, Panthers snub

Contract negotiations between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have stalled as the quarterback was placed under the non-exclusive franchise tag. Jackson is free to negotiate with any team, but so far he hasn't received any interest.

Two-time Super Bowl winner Von Miller recently appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and was asked about Jackson's situation. Miller believes that Jackson is undeniably a great quarterback despite recent snubs by multiple teams.

Here's what Von Miller said:

"Lamar Jackson, he's a different style of quarterback, you know, and I think it's easy for teams to open up we're not going down that road. There are some teams that you know, maybe they want to go in a traditional route what a different style of quarterback that's cool.
"Maybe some GMs like this type quarterback they fit this team they fit this offensive scheme and you know some teams like this type of quarterback so that's what I thought, that's what I think we saw happen with the Atlanta Falcons.
"There’s team out there that needs Lamar Jackson right now may not be the Atlanta Falcons but there is a team that could use Lamar Jackson on the way to winning the Super Bowl."

Jackson is a phenomenal player, but he isn't the type of quarterback that could straightaway fit into any team. Many teams avoid having a quarterback who can run well with the ball because their system is based on passing from the pocket.

Running the ball effectively is a great trait for any quarterback, but it has many flaws as well. Run-dominant quarterbacks like Jackson and Justin Fields are more injury prone than other quarterbacks, which is why it's risky to offer them gigantic contract extensions.

Both parties have valid arguments in Lamar Jackson's contract saga

The Baltimore Ravens are unwilling to offer Deshaun Watson-type guaranteed money to Jackson since their quarterback has missed significant time over the past two seasons.

Lamar Jackson was taken 32nd overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Kyler Murray was taken 1st overall in the 2019 NFL draft.

Lamar Jackson has racked up 125 total TD’s, won 45 games, and won an MVP since he was drafted.

On the other hand, Jackson knows what the market value is, and watching quarterbacks like Watson and Kyler Murray, who have achieved less than him in the league, get paid more than him does not sit well with him.

Nobody knows whether Jackson will play for the Ravens again, as all eyes will be on his contract negotiations and how much money he will finally be entitled to.
