Washington Commanders sale update: Jeff Bezos’ latest move signals imminent bid with Dan Snyder quoting $7 billion

The Washington Commanders just got a new offensive coordinator, but the move could be like a new piece of wall art compared to a full remodel. According to The Washington Post via Pro Football Talk, potential bidder Jeff Bezos has taken a big step towards buying the team.

The founder of Amazon has hired the same investment company that the Waltons did to buy the Denver Broncos. As it stands, the Waltons are the richest ownership group in the league.

Jeff Bezos would "eclipse" every owner in the league, including the Waltons with a net worth of almost $120 billion, per the report.

Will Dan Snyder sell the Commanders?

The purchase of the team at Dan Snyder's reported asking price would be a drop in the bucket compared to the net worth of the founder. Snyder is hoping to get $7 billion for the loss of his team, but many have put the team's value squarely below $6.5 billion, at $6.3 billion at the most.

Even if Snyder doesn't get every billion of his asking price, he'll still be getting more than any other owner transfer in NFL history. Just last year, the Denver Broncos were sold to the Waltons for $4.65 billion, according to ESPN.

If the Commanders sell for around $6 billion, it would still be an increase of more than $1.5 billion in a year.

Fans agree that the Commanders, with fewer championships in recent years and a less storied history, would seemingly be valued around or less than the 2022 value of the Denver Broncos.

Instead, the team that just rebranded could raise the standard even more than John Elway's former team.

Talking w @Rosenbergradio about the Commanders future: "I would throw away multiple seasons for the sale, because for me it feels like I've already thrown away 20 ... A change in leadership from the top is exactly what this team needs"

Of course, it was rumored that Bezos was interested in buying the Broncos and, having been to slow on the draw for that opportunity, he will be primed for this one. With deeper pockets bidding on the team, the price seemingly could increase at a faster and higher clip.

Will Dan Snyder get his $7 billion or even follow through on selling the team this offseason?
