WATCH: Chiefs WR Rashee Rice's mother allegedly steals package off neighbor's porch

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice's week has seemingly gotten worse. The sophomore star suffered a brutal knee injury in the first quarter of his team's 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and had to be carted off the field. If that wasn't bad enough, his mother, Marsha Kearney, was allegedly caught stealing one of her neighbor's packages on a door camera.

In a clip posted on TMZ's website, a woman resembling Kearney was seen picking up a package that reportedly had two limited edition vinyls of singer-songwriter Chappell Roan's albums. The woman accused of the theft was also sporting a Chiefs jersey with Rice's number.

Kearney was spotted wearing the same jersey during Kansas City's hard-fought win over LA at SoFi Stadium.

Per TMZ, the victim of the alleged theft reached out to Kearney and Rice to recover the stolen items to no avail and later filed a police complaint. At the time of writing, there was no official report of law enforcement agents taking any action against the wide receiver's mother.

The controversy comes at a terrible time for Rice, who could be sidelined for an extended period.

Rashee Rice injury update: What happened to Chiefs WR?

The wide receiver suffered the knee injury on a freak play midway through the first quarter. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tried to find a tight end, Travis Kelce, with a deep pass but overthrew straight into the waiting arms of Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton, who tried to return it for a pick-6.

Rice tracked the defensive back, slapped the ball out of his hands, and gave his teammates a chance to recover the ball. However, right after he stripped it, Mahomes, who was trying to tackle Fulton, crashed into his teammate's knee and left him wincing on the floor.

To make matters worse, the officials announced that Rice had gone out of bounds before the play had ended, meaning the Chargers kept possession of the football. The 24-year-old was ruled out of the game as the team feared that he had suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

However, three days have passed and there's no update about the extent of his injury. Regardless, it's highly unlikely he'll suit up in the Chiefs' Week 5 clash against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
