WATCH: Derek Stingley, Dalton Schultz get into massive fight at Texans training camp

The Houston Texans are responsible for the first massive brawl of the 2024 training camp in the NFL. After a play that left tight end Dalton Schultz a bit frustrated, cornerback Derek Stingley gave him a massive sideway hit, which sparked a huge brawl with many players involved.

Schultz and Stingley are two of the most important players on the Texans' roster. Schultz is in his second year with the franchise, while Stingley emerged as an instant superstar after being the third overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Fights are normal during training camp in the NFL, but it's still not great to see, especially as Schultz seemed to be walking away from the situation as Stingley hit him. Players went out from the sidelines to stop the fight - it was quickly dismissed, but nevertheless, it was a bad look in just the first week of training camp.

Here's the video of their scuffle:

It's unclear what started the fight, but reports from fans at the training camp say that it all began when Jimmie Ward had hit Stefon Diggs late after a completion. Schultz was frustrated with Ward's late hit and they argued about it, but the scuffle was interrupted. Stingley then shoved Schultz as they returned to the huddle.

Not all teams suspend practice for players who fight. For example, Bill Belichick had a rule that, once a player fights in practice, his day gets over. In the case of Schultz and Stingley, it appears that they've returned to practice, though.

Expectations for the Texans in the 2024 season

They've got one of the most loaded rosters in the AFC after a good offseason that was catapulted by Stefon Diggs' arrival. He will be another weapon for C. J. Stroud, their prized quarterback who took the league by storm in his rookie year.

Winning the division should be the bare minimum to make Texans fans happy, but competition will be tough with the Indianapolis Colts. It they follow a linear progression, fighting with the top of the conference will follow, but to dethrone Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs would be no easy task.
