WATCH: Jaycee Horn gets ejected following massive brawl at Panthers vs Bears
Jaycee Horn and the Panthers' frustrations boiled over as the Bears romped all over them to secure a dominant victory. The game was filled with subplots ,with both sets of players having enough reasons not to be on the losing side.
There was D.J. Moore, coming up against his old team and he responded with two touchdowns and a 100-yard game. Caleb Williams, who was picked first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, owed his selection by the Bears to the pick the Panthers sent Chicago's way in pushing up to select Bryce Young first overall in 2023. The Carolina second-year quarterback was not even on the pitch.
With so many subplots, there were simmering tensions going into the game, and then the Bears turned it into a rout. The Panthers were missing crucial pieces in defense, but it wasm't a good look, as the Bears were up by 30-10 in the fourth quarter when they had another attempt to add a touchdown. And they duly did so, making it 36-10 with over four minutes remaining.
That's when Jaycee Horn lost his temper and started a brawl. Flags came in from all sides as most of the players on the pitch joined in. The cornerback was eventually ejected from the game. Here's the video:
Jaycee Horn faces personal torment as D.J. Moore finds his form
D.J. Moore was struggling coming into the game against his former team. He had 189 yards in four games and a single touchdown in four games this season. There was talk about him missing Justin Fields and that he wasn't on the same wavelength as rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
Jaycee Horn was supposed to keep him quiet and add to his frustrations. Instead, the wide receiver went for 105 yards on just five receptions and two of them were touchdowns.
The game was a poor return not just for Jaycee Horn, but for the entire Panthers organization. It showed that their opponents are much further ahead in their progression even though Carolina sent a boatload of picks and their star wide receiver to the Bears in getting the 2023 NFL Draft's first pick.
The one game they have won this season after Andy Dalton had replaced Bryce Young as the starter looks more like a fluke now. The Panthers will be left licking their wounds, none more so than Jaycee Horn, who will be left contemplating his performance in the game as well as his ejection.
