WATCH: Jets-Panthers joint practice erupts in massive fight
Another NFL practice has devolved into a fight, with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers coming together for a brawl on August 15. DJ Reed appeared to be actively involved in the brawl. Chuba Hubbard was also involved in the scrum.
Reed punched another Panthers player after sneaking up on him during the initial altercation. That was before players from both sides gathered as whistles blew frequently. The fight ended after around 30 seconds, but there was plenty of action.
The Panthers and Jets will play each other this weekend for their second preseason game. The Panthers lost their first game, while the Jets earned a win. If this practice is any indication, it could be a tense matchup.
NFL fights aren't uncommon in training camp and the preseason, especially with joint practices. Sometimes teams fight among themselves, but teams that have no love for one another or no connection sometimes have even less respect for the other players.
That leads to fights, something that has happened more than a few times involving more than a few teams (like the New York Giants and Detroit Lions) this offseason.
Panthers star free agent signing gets injured
The hits, both literally and figuratively, keep coming at this joint practice for the Carolina Panthers.
Though not related to the fight above, star free agent signing Robert Hunt, one of two guards the Panthers signed, went down with an injury and had to be carted off.
He left the Miami Dolphins and signed a five-year, $100 million deal with $63 million guaranteed. Now, his status for the season is entirely up in the air. The guard was brought in to help protect Bryce Young, but may be unable to do so now.
The good news is that it was not a lower-body injury. All indicators suggest a shoulder injury. Hunt is not out of the woods yet, but it's likely not a season-ending injury like a torn ACL or MCL.
