WATCH: Marvin Harrison Jr. lights up Cardinals crowd with first NFL touchdown vs Rams
Marvin Harrison Jr. showcased why he was the top wide receiver picked in the 2024 NFL draft with a stellar performance in the Arizona Cardinals' stomping of the Los Angeles Rams.
The rookie bounced back from a tough debut with an exceptional touchdown catch in the first quarter. On a second-and-8 play from the Rams' 23-yard line, Harrison ran a go-route and got a step on cornerback Tre'Davious White, prompting quarterback Kyler Murray to try and find him in the endzone.
The pass was near-perfect, but the wide receiver had little space to work with and also had White right behind to punch the ball out. However, he caught the pass, stayed in bounds and scored the game's and his career's first touchdown.
Minutes later, the wide receiver scored his second touchdown on an even more impressive play. On a first-and-10 play from the Cardinals' 40-yard line, Harrison ran a crossing route and found enough open space for a scrambling Murray to heave the ball in his direction.
He caught the ball and ran nearly 20 yards before jumping almost four yards to break the plane and give the Cardinals a two-score lead.
Harrison was responsible for two of his team's four offensive touchdowns in the 41-10 rout.
Marvin Harrison's stellar comeback after Week 1 disappointment
The rookie WR had a rough introduction to life in the NFL in the Cardinals' 34-28 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.
Harrison finished the game with only one catch for four yards, a dismal return on his highly-anticipated debut. However, he answered his critics on Sunday by showcasing why Arizona spent the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft on him.
He finished the game with only four catches but had 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals desperately needed a superstar receiver following the exits of DeAndre Hopkins in 2023 and Marquise Brown in 2024.
Harrison fit the bill perfectly on paper, and in his second outing for the team, he showcased it on the field too. Quarterback Kyler Murray will be ecstatic to have the rookie on the roster and hope he continues to have the same impact throughout the season.
