WATCH: New footage reveals why Colorado's Shedeur Sanders blew off former NFL MVP Cam Newton
Shedeur Sanders, just like Travis Hunter, didn't seem to be having it when former quarterback Cam Newton interrupted his pre-game workout. He shook hands with Newton and then walked off, leaving Cam hanging, who was trying to speak with him. Then Cam walked off too.
As soon as the video went viral on social media, fans were astonished at Shedeur's reaction. Many assumed that it was merely because he was locked in and trying to focus on his pregame workout and didn't want to be disturbed.
However, new footage has revealed what Shedeur Sanders told the veteran ex-QB during the few seconds that they interacted. In the video, Newton can be seen telling TC Taylor, Jackson State's HC:
"He said I'm on some weird s**t."
The beef between the two started when Cam Newton made disparaging comments against Shedeur on his podcast "4th & 1." On the podcast episode, Newton addressed comments about the similarities between him and Sanders beating him down during the process.
"What performance can you hang your hat on?"
According to Cam, Shedeur didn't stand out as an exceptional quarterback in any of his games. Colorado's success was due to weak teams, not Shedeur. He closed his outburst against the quarterback by urging his co-host not to make analogies between him and the Colorado quarterback.
Shannon Sharpe says Shedeur Sanders shouldn't be compared to Cam Newton
In the latest episode of Nightcap, Shannon Sharpe said comparing Newton to Shedeur was like comparing apples to oranges. According to the former TE, the two have different playing styles.
"Shedeur is a pure pocket passer. He's not an athlete like Cam. He can't, he doesn't move like Cam. He's not Kyler Murray, he's not Lamar Jackson—that's not what he is," Sharpe said.
He also highlighted some numbers to drive home the point:
"So, the comparison can't be with a Cam because Cam rushed for nearly 1,500 yards. Lamar rushed for 1,500 yards. Kyler rushed for over 1,000 yards. Shedeur might not even rush for 1,000 yards in his career," he added.
While Cam was more of a dual-threat QB, Sharpe said that Shedeur was more of a passer, like 7x Super Bowl winner Tom Brady.
