WATCH: Taylor Swift goes through roller-coaster of emotions as Travis Kelce lights up Arrowhead on MNF vs Saints
Travis Kelce is slowly regaining his form in the 2024 season after a slow start in the first three games. And he has a very special witness accompanying him along the way.
During the game against the New Orleans Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end breached at least 60 yards for the second straight time - even connecting on a lateral play with running back Samaje Perine.
Just before the first half ended, ESPN/ABC's cameras caught his popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift's reaction from the suites of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night. [From 00:21 mark onwards]
The Chiefs would not have a great third quarter, however. First, Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo managed to avoid a pass interference penalty after shoving wide receiver Xavier Worthy during a deep pass. Kicker Harrison Butker then missed the ensuing field goal attempt off the right upright.
Then, late in the third quarter, Mahomes was intercepted by defensive tackle Khalen Saunders when he aimed for JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Travis Kelce’s initial slump to start 2024 season not caused by Taylor Swift, says brother Jason
Here is an interesting stat about Travis Kelce in 2024 so far: in his last two games, he had 20 more receiving yards (89) than in his first three games combined (69).
A good number of fans have been inclined to blame such a weak start on his relationship with Taylor Swift, but the tight end’s brother Jason is one of those who disagree with this notion. Speaking during Monday Night Countdown before the game, the former Philadelphia Eagles center said:
"Optics are that he's all over the place. And that's not just optics that's reality. But he still keeps the main thing the main thing."
Explaining further, he said:
"He has always lived his life to the fullest. He has enjoyed his off-seasons very much even before Taylor Swift... He is always going to find a way to make football the number one priority."
"I know it's been a slow start for him. Trav is always gonna find a way to show up and show out. It's only a matter of time before he gets back."
The Chiefs would defeat the Saints 26-13. Kelce ended the day with nine grabs for 70 yards and, besides the lateral to Samaje Perine, also handed off to rookie wideout Xavier Worthy for a trick play rushing touchdown.
