“Watch your words”: Cam Newton fires shots at ESPN broadcaster for dissing Coach Prime and Shedeur Sanders
Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton aimed ESPN broadcaster Paul Finebaum after he dissed Colorado. Newton believes no program draws more attention than Colorado.
The Buffaloes were the talk of college football last season, but the school went just 4-8. Entering 2024, there is still plenty of attention on them, but Finebaum criticized the team, which Newton isn't a fan of.
"[38:09 – 39:18] Paul watch your words. ‘Cause I see what you tried to do, but you tried it, no chewing gum. If anybody is relevant, if anybody's going to play for the Super Bowl. I think Shedeur probably said it in a way that he knows a lot of people are going to play their best because a lot of people will be watching that game, that's what he meant," Newton said on Wednesday on his 4th and 1 Show.
"And last year, I mean, come on, he took on a new team for Christ's sake. This is my issues with reporters, with journalists, ‘Where will the accountability be?’ ‘Cause Paul Finebaum been covering sports and been having some outlandish takes on athletes programs for years. Just for him to say some crazy sh*t like that. And then if he does make it to the college football playoffs him just to say what apology?"
It was a fiery rant from Newton to Finebaum for criticizing what Sanders and Colorado are doing. He also doesn't understand the hate Deion Sanders gets as he took over a team that won one game in 2022 and got them to four wins in 2023.
Cam Newton believes Travis Hunter is destined for stardom
Travis Hunter is one of the top players in college football, and Cam Newton expects him to have a lot of success in the NFL.
Hunter will be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Further, Newton already said in his podcast Hunter should be fitted for his gold jacket as he believes the two-way player will be a Hall of Famer.
Hunter is a star receiver and a lockdown cornerback. He can play both positions well in the NFL, making him one of the best in the league.
As for Newton, he last played in the NFL in the 2021 season when he returned to the Carolina Panthers. He won MVP in 2015 when he led Carolina to the Super Bowl, but the team lost to the Denver Broncos.
