Week 16: Chicago Bears vs. Buffalo Bills game recap and analysis
In the NFL matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Buffalo Bills, the Bills came out on top with a 35-13 victory. The game was played at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, and was televised on CBS.
The Bears get dominated at home
The Bills got off to a strong start, scoring six points in the first quarter thanks to a touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Allen to wide receiver Gabe Davis. The Bears responded with a touchdown of their own in the first quarter, but were unable to keep up with the Bills' offense for the rest of the game.
In the second quarter, the home team managed to score a field goal, while the Bills put up zero points. The score going into halftime was 10-6 in favor of Chicago.
The Bills continued to dominate in the second half, scoring 15 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter. Allen had another touchdown pass, this time to tight end Dawson Knox, and running back Devin Singletary added a rushing touchdown. James Cook had a 27 yard rushing touchdown, and the quarterback ran for a four-yard touchdown in the final five minutes of the game.
The home team were unable to launch a comeback, scoring only three points in the entire second half. Their offense struggled throughout the game, and their defense just couldn't keep up with Buffalo's explosive offense.
Justin Fields completed 15 of 23 throws for 119 yards and one touchdown while throwing one interception. Running back David Montgomery had a good game, gaining 62 yards on 16 carries, but the Bears' receivers were ineffective. With 52 yards on two catches, Velus Jones Jr. recorded the most yards through the air.
The Bills' players, on the other hand, performed outstandingly well. Allen had 172 yards with 15 completions. The quarterback was also impressive on the ground, carrying the ball six times for 41 yards. Singletary and Cook each had over 100 rushing yards, with both players getting additional receiving yards.
Although no Bills receiver had more than three catches and six targets, their squad still put up 172 receiving yards in the match.
In the end, Buffalo's strong offensive performance and solid defense proved to be too much for their opponents. The Bills improved their record to 12-3 and 6-2 away, while the Bears fell to 3-12 and 2-6 at home.
