Colts get blown out at home
The first quarter was a defensive battle, as both teams struggled to get anything going offensively. The Chargers were able to break the scoreless tie in the second quarter, however, when they scored a touchdown. Indianapolis responded with a field goal to cut the deficit to 7-3, but the Chargers added another field goal to take a 10-3 lead into halftime.
The Chargers continued to dominate in the second half, adding a field goal in the third quarter and a touchdown in the fourth to extend their lead to 20-3. Despite a valiant effort by the Colts, they were unable to mount a comeback, and the Chargers came away with a 20-3 victory.
Justin Herbert was impressive for the Chargers, completing 24 of 31 passes for 235 yards and one interception. Ekeler put in a standout performance on the ground, rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Herbert also had five rushes in the game. Keenan Allen was Herbert's top target, catching 11 passes for 104 yards. The Chargers' defense also played a key role in the victory, recording seven sacks and three interceptions.
For the home team, quarterback Nick Foles struggled, throwing for 143 yards and three interceptions. Their rushing attack was also unable to get much going, finishing with 69 yards on the ground. Running back Zack Moss led the way with 65 yards on 12 carries. Wide receiver Jelani Woods was the Colts' leading receiver, catching 3 passes for 43 yards.
With the win, the Chargers improved to 9-6 and secured a spot in the playoffs. Their opponents, on the other hand, fell to 4-10-1 and were eliminated from postseason contention. It was a tough loss for them, and they will now turn their attention to the offseason as they look to rebuild for the 2023 season.
The Chargers' focus will now go to the playoffs, where they hope to make a deep run. The Chargers will be a difficult matchup for any team in the postseason, with Herbert leading the offense with a solid defense. The Colts, on the other hand, will need to recover and make improvements in the summer in order to rebound in 2023.
