"Were you preaching patience when Saleh was fired?" - Mike Florio calls out Aaron Rodgers after 4x MVP voices concern on coaching landscape

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk called out Aaron Rodgers after the New York Jets quarterback voiced his concern about the NFL's current coaching landscape. Rodgers was on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday to discuss the Bears firing offensive coordinator Shane Waldron after the team's dismal 19-3 loss at Soldier Field last Sunday.

Rodgers lamented the state of the league, where patience is lacking and coaches are fired quickly:

“Unfortunately, that’s the nature of our league now, right? It’s coaches and play-callers on both sides of the ball aren’t making it through the season... There’s just not a lot of patience anymore in the league. It’s, you know, ‘Get this guy out of here.’ " [From 36:53]

In his post on Tuesday, Florio fired back at Rodgers for not raising the issue of "patience" when the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh earlier this season.

"Fine, Aaron. Give us your opinion, then. What was it in New York? Were you preaching patience when Saleh was fired? Or was there a 'major problem' or 'major issue' that threw a wrench in the plans?"

Florio also went on to point out that the New York media has not pressed Rodgers hard on the subject of Saleh's firing and his possible role in it. He then challenged the NY media to ask Rodgers about his recent comments and how they connect to his team.

The Jets fired Saleh after only five games into the season after a 2-3 start. However, things have not turned around for Aaron Rodgers' team since Saleh's departure.

Jets' record since firing Robert Saleh: Aaron Rodgers and co. in the doldrums

After firing Robert Saleh, the Jets handed over the reins to defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in an interim capacity. They expected improvement, but their season has gone in the opposite direction.

Aaron Rodgers and co. are 1-4 since moving on from Saleh and its defense and offense have cratered. They averaged 18.6 points per game and gave up only 17 to their opponents in their first five games. In the last five, they have scored 16.8 points and conceded 25.8 on average.

They lost 25-22 to the New England Patriots in Week 8 after beating them 24-3 in Week 3, illustrating how the defense has worsened since Ulbrich was given more responsibility.
