"What if he f--king leads into promised land?": Jason and Travis Kelce offer unique solution to Aaron Rodgers-led Jets firing HC Robert Saleh
Jason and Travis Kelce offered a unique solution to what the New York Jets should do with the coaching position. The Jets fired Robert Saleh on Tuesday and named Jeff Ulbrich the interim coach.
However, while speaking on their New Heights Podcast on Wednesday, the Kelce brothers said the Jets should name Aaron Rodgers the first-ever player-coach in the NFL. The brothers believe Rodgers can run the team well, especially the offense and it is something they want to see.
Jason: The head coach is Aaron Rodgers. I don't even know why they're even just naming them the head coach. I just want to see a player-coach.
Travis: I do too, man, I kind of want to see it.
Jason: Just make Aaron, the head coach
Travis: Just do it.
Jason: You know, you want to do it. Everybody wants to see it. What if he just f*****g leads into the promised land?
The conversation was interesting as both Travis and Jason Kelce rooted for Aaron Rodgers being named the player-coach. However, that won't happen as the Jets decided to name Ulbrich the interim coach ahead of the Jets showdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6.
Rodgers is in his second season as the Jets quarterback. He has struggled as he has gone 111-for-182 for 1,093 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
Jets owner explains decision to fire Robert Saleh
The New York Jets have struggled out of the gates to a 2-3 start, and after the loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London, owner Woody Johnson decided to fire Robert Saleh.
The news caught many by surprise, but Johnson said a change was necessary as he believed the team needed a spark to get back on track.
"One of the reasons I decided to make a coaching change is exactly that, we need to find ways to win," Johnson said Tuesday, via NFL.com. "We're not going to find those ways by doing the same thing over and over and over. ...
"This is one of most talented teams that has ever been assembled by the New York Jets. I wanted to give this team the most opportunity to win this season. I feel that we had to go in a different direction and that's why I did that today. The change we made, I made, I believe will bring new energy and positivity that will lead to more wins starting now."
The Jets are two-point underdogs at home against the Buffalo Bills on Monday.
