What happened to Christian Watson? Packers star ruled out for Dolphins game
The Green Bay Packers are locked in a battle with Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day and are doing it without Christian Watson. With the Packers needing a win to have any hope of sliding into the playoffs, the game is precariously placed.
But for Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he will have to get his seventh win of the year without rookie receiver Christian Watson. Per Fox's Pam Oliver, the receiver will not be available to Rodgers for the entire second half.
What are the current Super Bowl odds?
Oliver has reported that Watson has a hip injury and is questionable to return. With the Packers down 20-13, the receiver was caught on camera seemingly telling his teammates that he was "done" for the day.
Prior to his injury, the receiver was having a nice day for himself, catching six passes for 49 yards as Green Bay struggles to keep its season alive.
Watson having good rookie season
Prior to the game against the Dolphins, the receiver was just starting to hit some good form as the connection between himself and Rodgers was gathering momentum.
Through 11 games, the receiver has totaled seven touchdowns and 447 receiving yards with those seven touchdowns coming in the last five games. If the Packers are to escape their horrible season and make an unlikely playoff push, they are going to need the star receiver to be healthy.
While it is unknown exactly how bad the hip injury is, given that he was taken off the field and out of the game basically straight away, it doesn't look good with just two games (after Miami) remaining.
