What happened to Cooper Kupp? Rams WR gets bad news with latest injury
The Los Angeles Rams could be about to receive some bad news regarding Cooper Kupp, one of their best players. The veteran wide receiver has been a great addition ever since he found his way to the team, but injuries have started bothering him in the past two seasons.
Today's game against the Arizona Cardinals appears to be another chapter of Kupp's tryst with injuries, as he was limping and wincing following a catch-and-run play. He was helped off the field by Rams trainers at halftime.
The Rams shared an update on X, listing him as doubtful to return to the game. The Los Angeles team was already struggling to make things go in their favor against the Cards, who entered halftime 24-3 up.
Kupp's absence won't do the Rams any favors and fans are now lamenting that the talented wideout is dealing with another injury.
The Rams had Puka Nacua last year to replace Cooper Kupp, but the competition has gotten a lot better. This Cardinals blowout shows that they'll need everybody fully healthy to compete in the NFC West division.
Cooper Kupp missed the first four games of the 2023 NFL season
Cooper Kupp's body been bothering him in the past two seasons. The Super Bowl LVI MVP picked up a hamstring injury in training camp last year that forced him to miss the first four games of the 2023 season. This was one of the reasons why Puca Nakua rose to stardom during his rookie season.
Kupp would return in Week 5, becoming a solid producer for the Rams, catching 59 passes for 737 yards and five touchdowns receptions for a team that exceeded expectations, made it to the playoffs and lost in a dramatic wild-card round game against the Detroit Lions.
Selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, Cooper Kupp has played 93 games, getting 581 receptions for 7,175 yards and 52 touchdown receptions. He's been Matthew Stafford's best partner in crime since his arrival in Los Angeles, which is why a potential extended absence would be painful for the Rams.
The Rams have missed multiple key players to injuries
Cooper Kupp could join a club of important players down with injuries to start the season. Nacua is on the list, as well as left tackle Joe Noteboom, right tackle Rob Havenstein, guard Steve Avila and Darious Williams. To make things worse, John Johnson was also listed as questionable with a shoulder issue.
The Rams lost to the Lions in Week 1 and the Cardinals dominated them from start to finish at University of Phoenix Stadium.
