Defensive tackle Corey Peters, who has spent 12 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, and Jacksonville Jaguars, announced his retirement today.
Peters announced the news via Twitter and walked away from the game after a solid 12 seasons as a nose tackle. He spent five seasons with the Falcons, six with the Cardinals, and last season with the Jaguars.
He announced the news on his Twitter and Instagram, early Thursday afternoon and Tweeted:
"After much prayerful consideration I’ve decided to retire from the NFL. The last thirteen years have been incredible. I'm grateful I’ve had the chance to compete at the highest level of the game."
He continued:
"A special thank you to the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, and Jacksonville Jaguars for being a vital part of making my dreams come true."
When was Corey Peters drafted?
Corey Peters was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2010 NFL Draft and was selected in the third-round at pick number 83 overall.
He spent four seasons at the University of Kentucky and played every single year. He was part of a draft class that year that included linebacker Sean Weaherspoon and DB Dominique Franks.
