What happened to D'Onta Foreman? Browns RB immobilized, taken to ambulance after major blow
Cleveland Browns running back D'Onta Foreman suffered a hit in training camp. The former Chicago Bears star was struck in the head and had to be transported off the field to a hospital for further medical evaluation.
The Browns offered up a statement on the running back, saying:
"During practice today, Browns RB D'Onta Foreman suffered a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman."
They added that he was taken by helicopter to Roanoke, Virginia, which is not far from the training camp in West Virginia. The team noted that he had movement in his extremities.
That was all the information they had at the time of the statement, but they promised to keep everyone updated on the player's status as they received more information.
D'Onta Foreman able to talk after suffering major blow
Shortly after D'Onta Foreman was taken to the hospital, another update came in. This time, it was a positive turn of events for the young running back who has played for the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.
Another update from reporter Josina Anderson confirmed that he not only can move his extremities but that he is talking to medical staff, too. The running back is under intense medical care, but he appears to have dodged the worst bullet from these sorts of incidents.
Training camp is often lower-intensity than normal practice and especially NFL games, but injuries can and do still happen. Fortunately, Foreman can talk and move some parts of his body.
According to reports, Foreman sustained the injury while working on a punting drill. He was subsequently placed on a backboard, which often sparks bad memories for football players, coaches and fans.
