What happened to David Montgomery? Lions RB taken off field after brutal leg injury vs Vikings
David Montgomery has been having another strong season with the Detroit Lions, working in a backfield tandem with Jahmyr Gibbs. He entered Week 7 already having scored six rushing touchdowns and would be a key player in an important NFC North clash against the Minnesota Vikings.
The veteran running back was unfortuantely forced to exit the game early after suffering a brutal-looking leg injury. His return is currently questionable, meaning that Gibbs will likely need to step into larger role.
What happened to David Montgomery in Week 7?
Montgomery got his Week 7 started by recording two carries and two receptions in the first half of the Detroit Lions' game against the Minnesota Vikings. With the Lions trailing 10-0 in the first quarter, he was helped off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury.
The Lions later reported that he suffered a knee injury and that his return to the game is questionable. They are obviously hoping that he is able to do so as he is a key part of their offense.
The Lions are likely to update Montgomery's status at some point during the game as to whether or not he will be avilable for the remainder of the contest. Gibbs will likely be counted on to take on the bulk of the backfield touches in his absence.
Update: Montgomery returned to the game before the end of the first half.
