What happened to DeVonta Smith? Eagles WR goes down vs Saints
Philadelphia Eagles DeVonta Smith was yet to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter of the game vs. the New Orleans Saints. But now it seems like he wouldn't get the chance to do it all.
The ball was snapped to Jalen Hurts, who hurled the ball toward DeVonta Smith. He caught the ball and started running until two Saints defenders took him down.
In the video, the hit seemed intentional, with the defender already aiming for DeVonta's head while running towards him. His helmet flew off.
Smith collapsed on the ground and lay motionless. Eagles players looked around at the referees. But no flag was thrown. Two referees even hovered above DeVonta and checked him out. Still, no flag was thrown.
After some time he got to his feet. DeVonta Smith then made his way to the blue medical tent where he was examined. The Eagles announced that he had been ruled out of the game for concussion.
Smith had managed to record 79 yards for 7 receptions. He did score a touchdown in the Eagles season opener but had managed to record one in the Eagles defeat at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons.
