What happened to Faion Hicks? Broncos CB gets arrested for felony charges
Soon-to-be-second-year Denver Broncos cornerback Faion Hicks has found himself in a spot of bother. Mike Kils revealed earlier today that Hicks has reportedly been arrested in Florida on three charges.
Picked up in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Hicks played just two games in his rookie season but was largely used as a special teams player as he played 30% of snaps for the unit.
But his NFL career might be on hold after this latest development.
Per 9 News, Hicks was stopped in Hallendale, Florida on Saturday for a traffic stop, which then led to police reportedly finding a concealed firearm. He is now out of jail after posting bond.
Court records show that Hicks was hit with a third-degree felony charge for the concealed firearm. He also failed to halt at a stop sign which led to him being sighted by police. Adding to his woes, www.9news.com also reported that he was carrying an expired driver's license as well, which makes three charges in total.
Where to now for Faion Hicks?
Drafted out of Wisconsin last year, Faion Hicks barely saw the field in his rookie season as he got used to the rigors of NFL football. What young players can ill-afford when trying to make a name for themselves in the league are distractions.
Unfortunately, for Hicks, this is a big distraction and new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton may not take too kindly to his young cornerback being arrested.
The 25-year-old cornerback will need to get on the straight and narrow if he is to have more of an impact in 2023 for the Broncos than he did last season.
This likely isn't going to derail his NFL career, but it is certainly a set back and hopefully he has the right people around him to steer him in the right direction.
While a special teams player last year, Faion Hicks will be looking at getting some defensive snaps next season as the Broncos look to improve on their disastrous 2022 season.
