What happened to Justin Herbert? Chargers QB replaced by backup vs Steelers
Justin Herbert taking part in the action on Sunday was not on several fans’ books. However, the QB suited up for this important game on the road. However, things did not look good for the Chargers man as he took his place on the bench.
The Los Angeles Chargers are embroiled in a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, their toughest task might be away from the field as their season could be in danger of derailment.
In the third quarter of the game, Herbert did not come out for the snap as backup QB Taylor Heinicke took his place. NFL insider Ian Rapoport suspected the ankle injury could be a cause for this change by head coach Jim Harbaugh.
“A situation to monitor: Chargers QB Justin Herbert appears to aggravate his ankle injury and Taylor Heinicke has replaced him.”
Justin Herbert sustained a high ankle injury on his right foot last week. He continued to limp in preparation for the game, however, his foot looked in good condition in Sunday’s warmups, as per ESPN. This was why Herbert was selected in the starting squad.
The decision by Harbaugh to play his QB despite not being 100% fit could come back to haunt them.
