What happened to Kyle Van Noy? Ravens LB suffers major injury during season opener vs ChiefsĀ
Kyle Van Noy is going strong after a decade of playing in the NFL but the Baltimore Ravens linebacker suffered a nasty-looking eye injury in the 2024 season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was seen being attended to on the sidelines by the medical personnel after a play saw him down on the pitch with swelling around the right eye area. He was initially questionable to return to the game.
It was a freak accident where he went to tackle Patrick Mahomes and collapsed the pocket. The Chiefs quarterback fell on top of the defender and that caused the injury. It was likely the helmet that got lodged in a bad position. Luckily for him, even though he was questionable, it did not look like too serious an injury.
But given how impressive he has been for Baltimore, the Ravens will be hoping that he is back soon. The season still has a long way to go and the linebacker is slated to be a big player. Kyle Van Noy, himself, will be looking to return as soon as possible because of the comfort he has found with this team towards the end of his career.
Kyle Van Noy finds stability with Ravens
Kyle Van Noy will be hoping to have a productive season and that his injury is nothing too serious. Even though he has been a fixture in the NFL for a decade and won a couple of Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, the last few years have been challenging for him.
After spending 2019 in Foxborough, he moved to the sunny climes of Miami in 2020 before returning to New England in 2021. He then played 2022 with the Los Angeles Chargers before getting a chance in Baltimore last season. He impressed enough to get a new contract, which means this is the first time in five years that he is returning to the team he was a year previously.
And he is not just making up the numbers in an also-ran team. The Ravens were the AFC top seed last year and made it to the championship game. Now, they have added Derrick Henry and are among Super Bowl favorites this season. Any injury will mean Kyle Van Noy missing out on playing time in what should be an ideal situation for him.
For both the team's sake and his own, everyone associated with Baltimore will be hoping that the linebacker's situation is not too serious.
