What happened to Marshon Lattimore? Saints CB ruled out after suffering an injury against Broncos
The New Orleans Saints' fortunes against the Denver Broncos weren't good. Plenty of injuries decimated the team's roster for the Thursday Night Football contest, none more important than Derek Carr. They also had players with health problems during the game, namely Marshon Lattimore.
The cornerback, who has been targeted at the lowest rate of any player at the position during the 2024 season (7.6%), left the game with a hamstring injury midway through the second half. Lattimore was one of the few Saints stars who wasn't hurt after the first month, but this is now gone.
Although there wasn't much that he could've done, as the offense was the biggest problem for the team, Lattimore had to watch from the sidelines as New Orleans was no match for the Denver Broncos, and lost 33-10 at the end of the day.
Could the Saints trade Marshon Lattimore before the trade deadline?
There comes a time when you have to take advantage of the opportunity to capitalize on a veteran and make more room for the young guys in your position. New Orleans may be at that point with Marshon Lattimore.
Drew Brees had a night to remember as he was inducted into the Saints' Hall of Fame. But it was a painful reminder that, ever since he left the franchise, they failed to make it to the playoffs. And with the franchise now sitting at 2-5, it's likely to be a fourth straight season.
After the team drafted Kool-Aid McKinstry, the team could have an interesting duo of the rookie with the promising Paulson Adebo. Trading Lattimore could be a way to accumulate draft capital for 2025, in addition to saving $10 million in cap space for next year.
More likely than not, Mickey Loomis and Dennis Allen will not survive another unfruitful season. Many analysts had the duo on the hot seat prior to the start of the season, and the debacle has been massive. Fixing the cap must be a priority for the new general manager, and some tough decisions will have to be made.
Lattimore, who's been around for a while and could return some excellent trade value, has been touted as a trade prospect. He could be leaving the team.
