What happened to Nate Wiggins? Ravens rookie involved in car accident ahead of Raiders game
After making his NFL debut against the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night, Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins will be inactive for Week 2. Ravens coach John Harbaugh ruled the rookie out of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to Harbaugh, Wiggins was involved in a car accident a few days ago after the team's Wednesday practice. He was kept out of the team's Thursday practice with a neck injury.
Clarifying further the situation with Wiggins, Harbaugh said that he is fine, but won't be able to make it out on the field this week.
"Nate was in a car accident a couple days ago. Looks like he’s not going to be able to make it to the game, so he’ll be out for this game. But he’s fine, he’s healthy, he’s fine, he’s just not going to be able to play.”
Wiggins missed Monday's 'bonus' practice but was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The details of why he didn't practice were revealed this morning.
In Wiggins' NFL debut, he had a solid outing for the Ravens. He played 17 snaps and only had one receiving yard allowed, and had a 76.9 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus.
The Ravens have more players on the injured list. Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy did not practice for a second straight day yesterday and rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac was limited in Thursday's practice.
The Baltimore Ravens look to improve to 1-1 after facing the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend
The Baltimore Ravens will host the Las Vegas Raiders in their home opener this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as both teams look to avoid a 0-2 start.
The Ravens suffered a heartbreaking 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on opening night. Tight end Isaiah Likely's foot was inches out of bounds, negating a potential game-tying touchdown as time expired.
The Raiders, on their front, lost a 22-10 divisional battle to Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders will face the other Harbaugh brother this week in John.
Presently, ESPN has the Ravens as nine-point home favorites and are a -425 moneyline favorite, being one of the biggest favorites this week. A win is important for the Ravens to remain in contention for the competitive AFC North division, which surprisingly had just one team earn a win in Week One.
