What happened to Paulson Adebo? Saints CB carted off the field with brutal leg injury vs. Broncos
Paulson Adebo became the latest New Orleans Saints player to succumb to a serious injury after the cornerback had to be carted off the field in the game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football in Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season.
New Orleans has been decimated with starting quarterback Derek Carr, wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave and offensive Swiss knife Taysom Hill, among those who are battling physical concerns.
Now, Paulson Adebo is the most recent addition to the expanding list. It came during a rushing play by the Broncos. Safety Jordan Howden managed to bring the running back down but the jostling player collided low with the cornerback who was coming from the other side.
It was immediately clear that the injury was serious and he was attended by medical professionals in the field. He was later carted off and what should worry the Saints fans is that his injured leg was put in a vacuum splint.
That is generally put to stabilize the bone in case of a fracture. He was taken directly to the X-ray room to be evaluated. He was ruled out of the game eventually and it was later announced that he had broken his femur.
Paulson Adebo primed to be a big miss for Saints after injury vs Broncos
The Saints were missing a lot of big players on offense. Aside from the quarterback and the wide receivers, the offensive line was decimated, so much so that Spencer Rattler was taking snaps from Connor McGovern, who was with the Jets just a few days ago.
Given the nature of those injuries, New Orleans has to get the best out of their defense to keep them in games until those offensive players get healthy. That will prove very difficult with Paulson Adebo out.
He has three interceptions for the season and was the leader in that category for the Saints before he had to leave the field against the Broncos. Without him, New Orleans is expected to struggle for turnovers and that will make life difficult for the offense to get points.
One thing that will perhaps improve, though, with Paulson Adebo out is his penchant for penalties. He gave up a defensive pass interference against Denver before he had to be carted off and that has become a bit of a habit for him over the last few weeks. Overall, however, he is another starter who is now out and could face an extended spell on the sidelines.
