What happened to Rondale Moore? Falcons cancel practice as WR gets carted off the field

Rondale Moore suffered a potentially brutal leg injury during practice with the Atlanta Falcons. It is his first season with the team and they canceled practice after he went down. He was eventually taken off on a cart with an inflatable cast on his leg.

That suggests a possible break, although details are fairly scarce about what exactly happened to the wide receiver. His teammates circled and prayed for him after he went down.

The Athletic reporter Josh Kendall took to X and posted:

"Rondale Moore leaving the field on a cart with an inflatable cast on his right leg. Falcons teammates gathered around him before he left field and now gathered in prayer."

ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques shared where Moore was taken.

"Cart is out for Falcons WR Rondale Moore —he’s got an air cast on his right leg and is being taken to the Baptist Health medical facility. Practice has been called."

It is difficult to get back into the flow after seeing a contact lead to a terrible injury to a friend or teammate which could have led to the Falcons' coaching staff deciding to cancel practice for the day.

Rondale Moore competing for roster spot

It's never good for an NFL player to be carted off, especially in training camp, and for a player trying to acclimate to a new team and potentially earn a spot on the roster. Rondale Moore was in that spot before going down with an injury on Wednesday.

He was traded by the Arizona Cardinals during the offseason and was expected to compete for the Falcons' third wide receiver spot behind Drake London and another newcomer, Darnell Mooney.

Moore recorded just 40 catches for 352 yards and a touchdown in his 2023 season. For his three-year NFL career, he has 135 catches for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns.
