What happened to Tank Dell? Texans WR carted off after scary sideline injury

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was carted off the field on Saturday. This happened after he sustained a knee injury during a touchdown play against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dell made an impressive 30-yard catch but was inadvertently struck by teammate Jared Wayne, who was also diving for the ball. The scene was emotional, with quarterback C.J. Stroud visibly shaken,

Stroud seemingly realized the potential severity of Dell's injury moments after celebrating a touchdown in the third quarter.

The injury adds to a challenging season for Dell, who has faced setbacks, including a broken leg last year and a gunshot wound earlier this season. Despite these challenges, he had been aiming to solidify his role on the team.

Tank Dell's performance this season has been inconsistent, with 45 receptions for 569 yards and two touchdowns, falling short of expectations set after his breakout rookie year.

Despite the touchdown bringing the Texans closer to the Chiefs, the scene on the field was somber. The Texans' medical staff rushed to Dell's aid, and the entire team covered him in prayer as he was taken away on a stretcher.

UPDATE:

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Texans WR suffered a dislocated knee cap. Head coach DeMeco Ryans informed reporters that the injury was significant.
