What did Jets trade for Davante Adams? Inside blockbuster deal for $140,000,000 Raiders All-Pro
The Davante Adams trade rumor finally reached the stage where it's just about done. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to trade the All-Pro wide receiver to the New York Jets this morning.
The trade will see Adams reunite with his good friend Aaron Rodgers in New York, who were seemingly in desperate need of reinforcements after a Monday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills left them reeling with a 2-4 record.
Rapoport added that the Jets gave up a conditional third-round pick to pull off a trade for Davante Adams.
What did the Jets trade for Davante Adams?
Yesterday, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that the only holdup regarding a Davante Adams trade was that franchise owner Mark Davis was looking for a second-round pick and holding firm on that asking price.
“It starts with Mark Davis. Because it’s in his mind that he wants that compensation back. He has been the one who has been unwilling to bend or be flexible off that. He doesn’t want to pay any of the money left on Davante’s deal," Schefter noted.
Today, Schefter reported that the Raiders will not eat any of Adams' salary for the year. So far, we know that they have traded a conditional third-rounder to bring Davante Adams to the Big Apple. The third-round pick will become a second-rounder based on his performance.
After Adams demanded a trade away, Sportskeeda's NFL insider Tony Pauline reported that Rodgers has been in constant touch with the Raiders wide receiver. Pauline also reported that the Jets firing Saleh would not slow down the process to bring Adams to New York.
The Raiders sent a first-round pick and a second-rounder to bring Davante Adams to Sin City and immediately handed him a five-year, $140 million deal to keep him in town.
