What is PlayerX? Super Bowl-winning WR JuJu Smith-Schuster joins Esports Fantasy platform

JuJu Smith-Schuster was a Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs in his first season. As he prepares for free agency, where he will be a coveted wide receiver, he's also part of the new PlayerX platform.

PlayerX is still in beta development. According to their website, it is "a mobile and web platform offering live video and real-time stats for your favorite titles. Our fantasy experience is inspiring and exciting, and our community is inclusive and engaging."

PlayerX also made a congratulatory tweet to the wide receiver days after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII with a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s CHAMPIONS week at @PlayerX_gg, as we celebrate @teamjuju!

While helping us build PlayerX, he had a MONSTER Super Bowl to lead the Chiefs to victory! Securing his first of many Super Bowl rings to come.

Quotes from Smith-Schuster and free agent quarterback Kurt Benkert can be found on their website, with the two players as investors and ambassadors.

Smith-Schuster's statement reads:

"PlayerX has taken my love for gaming to the next level! The live streaming capabilities allow me to connect with fans and compete in fantasy esports like never before. It's a game-changer for all Esports Fans!"

Benkert, a pro Halo player, comments:

"PlayerX is what Esports has been missing! My favorite aspect about this platform is the streaming portal. As soon as it's launched it will become my go to home for Esports."

Where will JuJu Smith-Schuster play in 2023?

Smith-Schuster desires to return to the Kansas City Chiefs to play with Patrick Mahomes once again, as he told NFL Network insider Mike Giardi two days before the Super Bowl:

"Yeah, I want to come back. Of course, man. Look where I'm at? I want to come back to this."

He earned an extra $1 million in the Super Bowl in incentives. He was also the leading wide receiver for the season, with 78 receptions for 933 yards and three touchdowns. He was not the top target, though, as Travis Kelce was Mahomes' go-to man.

Even head coach Andy Reid spoke highly of Smith-Schuster during Super Bowl media day:

"I love JuJu, great personality. He's sure-handed, he's great after the catch, he's tough to bring down and he's smart. He picked everything up and kept the confidence of the quarterback."

It remains to be seen how long the Chiefs keep hold of Smith-Schuster in their roster.
