When Aaron Rodgers came close to ditching football for a law career

Aaron Rodgers has spent the last two decades as a quarterback in the NFL. He has five NFL MVPs to show for it and a Super Bowl ring, which makes it perplexing to think that he may have chosen a different career path.

In an interview with Graham Bensinger in 2014, Rodgers revealed that he nearly gave up football and pursued a law degree instead. During his high school recruiting process, he was rejected by the University of Wisconsin and Purdue University, which led to him contemplating a new path.

Rodgers went on to say that football is and will always be his 'first love.'

“Football was still my first love, so that kind of won out.”-Aaron Rodgers said in an interview in 2014.

After graduating from high school, he was approached by the football program at Butte Community College, who convinced him that playing a season at the junior college level would be beneficial. He then transferred to the University of California where he made it on the radar of NFL scouts.

Aaron Rodgers learned of Mike Williams' trade during live interview

Aaron Rodgers made his weekly appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday. While he was live on television, Rodgers learned that one of his wide receivers had been traded.

Mike Williams was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick.

Pat McAfee announced the news to Rodgers, who had to then respond on the spot in real-time. Rodgers, who had blamed Williams for the New York Jets' woes just a few weeks ago, then had nothing but praise for the wide receiver.

“Mike’s a quiet guy. Just kind of goes about his business. Mike had a rough injury last year – the ACL – that’s tough to come back from, and he worked his a*s off all offseason. Wasn’t around for a lot of training camp; he was working on the side. But I felt like he was getting better throughout the early part of the season. It felt like his speed was getting better and he was getting more comfortable with it."-Rodgers said of Mike Williams.

He then said that he knew how much work Mike Williams put in to get back from an ACL injury last season. He then said that he would be a perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and locker room.
