“When are they taking away our check?”- Patrick Mahomes fires shots at Elon Musk following Twitter’s new verification pricing
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes joined several other sports stars in saying no to Twitter Blue. The two-time Super Bowl winner all but confirmed that he won't be paying for his verified blue check.
"When are they taking away our check?" he wrote with two laughing emojis.
The only option for verified Twitter accounts to keep their blue checkmark after March 31 is to pay for Twitter Blue. However, subscriptions for individuals cost $8 a month plus tax for the badge.
The monthly membership also gives users other perks, like two-factor authentication. However, businesses will have to pay even more to be verified. As per reports, companies that are currently unverified will have to spend up to $1,000 a month to get a gold checkmark on their account.
Although Twitter CEO Elon Musk has said he expects Twitter Blue to help the company make money, Mahomes and many others don't seem to agree with the 51-year-old.
