"They were such jerks" - When Tom Brady was bullied by neighborhood kids as a child
Today, Tom Brady is an NFL legend with seven Super Bowl titles to his name. However, the star quarterback might not have started out as a popular kid. The 45-year-old has often referred to himself as a nerd during his early years, working his way through a competitive home life.
In a 2016 interview with The Eagle-Tribune, his parents and sisters shed some light on their personal life and Brady's younger years. Tom Brady, being the youngest sibling, grew up watching and supporting his sisters.
His father, Tom Brady Sr., encouraged an atmosphere promoting competitiveness. However, according to his sister Maureen, Brady didn't always fit in.
“Tommy would try to fit in,” she said. “I remember one time some boys were throwing a football around our street and they told Tommy to go deep. He ran all the way down the street waiting for the football and they turned around and left. They were such jerks.”
She added:
“He was our little brother. It was normal, Tommy always tagging along. I remember pitching so many times at the park near our house, our whole life was spent there. To this day I remember turning around and he’s up on a light post, doing cheers. They are special memories.”
Tom Brady recently mentioned his sisters during his Christmas wish
Tom Brady recently mentioned his family during his Christmas wish. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB was celebrating his first holiday on the field, and thanked his loved ones for their support.
“Say hi to my parents, my sisters, my kids, love you all, hope you had a good time," Tom Brady said. "Merry Christmas to everyone, see you soon. Thank you."
This was also Brady's first Christmas without his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and his children. Though Brady and Bundchen seem to be moving on, the 45-year-old has addressed his troubles while on the Let's Go podcast.
Brady admitted that it was an experience he has never had before. After all, they were together for almost two decades. Ultimately, Brady had to learn to deal with spending Christmas alone in his hotel.
“It’ll be a new experience that I’ve never had before that I’m gonna learn how to deal with. And I think that’s what life’s about. So you just asked a question about what have you learned from this football season? I’m gonna learn how to deal with Christmas Eve in a hotel, and I’m gonna have to learn how to deal with Christmas and Christmas night and still go out there and be a professional."
A few days later, Brady posted a late Christmas photo with his children, Jack, Benjamin, and Vivian.
