Caitlyn Davis, Terrell Owens incident: Women charged with misdemeanor for lying that Hall of Fame WR almost hit her while driving

Following a heated dispute with NFL legend Terrell Owens in August, Caitlyn Davis has been criminally charged with a misdemeanor. Court records, per TMZ, indicate that Davis was charged with a second-degree misdemeanor for falsely reporting the incident.

The documents also indicate that she knowingly gave false information to the police after her spat with the retired wide receiver. She'll head to court in December for the trial and if convicted, she will more than likely face jail time.

In Florida, where the altercation took place initially, the misdemeanor can carry a maximum of 60 days in jail and additional fines as well as a six-month probation.

What happened with Terrell Owens and Caitlyn Davis?

In August, Owens and Davis were on the road together and Davis on a bike. She accused the former NFL star of almost hitting her, so he got out of the car to talk to her.

The two got into a verbal altercation from there, arguing back and forth over what had truly occurred. She reportedly said:

"But you didn’t have to get out of your f*****g car. You’re a black man approaching a white woman."

The situation didn't get any better and police eventually arrived. Another neighbor of the two corroborated Owens' side of the story. Eventually, prosecutors and the legal system agreed.

When the incident first occurred, Owens told TMZ that he's lucky he made it out of the situation unscathed:

“If the wrong type of cops came out, if they got the wrong type of information. You saw the video. She started crying, you never know how that situation could’ve turned. I could’ve died. Honestly, I could have died and the storyline would be totally different.”

He also said:

""I just think about others that may have been in this situation and if they didn't have the status or wherewithal to do what I did, it could have been gravely different. I want to be able to use this platform to shed light on what goes on. It doesn't matter what type of neighborhood you're in, this is the reality of the life of a Black individual or Black American."

He is a famous NFL receiver, but even he is not exempt from the daily troubles of racism in America.
