Who was Rachel Bradshaw's first husband Rob Bironas? Ex-NFL kicker died just months after wedding
Former Pittsburgh Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw's daughter Rachel Bradshaw married longtime boyfriend Chase Lybbert this past weekend at the Texas Country Club. This was Rachel's second marriage. She was earlier married to former Tennessee Titans placekicker Rob Bironas.
Rob Bironas signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2002 as an undrafted free agent and was released prior to the start of the season. Over the next couple of years, Bironas played in AF2, AFL and the NFL. He spent time with the Charleston Swamp Foxes, Carolina Cobras, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 2005, Rob Bironas signed with the Tennessee Titans ahead of the NFL season. Over the next nine years, the two-time All-Pro went on to become one of the elite kickers in the NFL and was highly depandable in the clutch moments. In the span of 144 games, Bironas scored 239 field goals with a FGP of 85.7% and accounted for a total of 1,032 points.
Apart from being a pro on the field, he was a class act off-the field. Bironas was a philathorophist. In 2008, he launched the Rob Bironas Fund to support several charities for children.
What happened to Rob Bironas? All about Rachel Bradshaw's first husband
In 2014, Rob Bironas' life was completely turned around in the span of six months. The Titans released the Pro Bowler in March, 29 points away from being the franchise's scoring record holder.
Rob Bironas and Rachel Bradshaw tied the knot in June. In September 2014, Bironas tragically passed away in a fatal car crash. He was just 36 years old.
As per the police report, Bironas' SUV was speeding over and crashed into the Battery Lane area of Nashville, Tennessee. It was later discovered that Bironas' blood alcohol level was 0.218, which is way over the legal limit in Tennessee of 0.8. He was under the influence of alcohol.
The Tennessee Titans released a statement stating:
"We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas. Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field."
With his passing away, Rob left behind his then wife, Rachel Bradshaw, and his son, London, from his previous relationship.
